Xenologist
Pokeshells need some more use. Here's what I suggest: Pokeshells eat more types of foodstuffs. They are crabs after all. Pokeshells (adults) should drop 6 pokeshell legs (half a cycle to spoil) when normally killed and 6 popped pokeshell legs when boiled Pokeshell legs can be popped at the electric grill or if they go over 100 c (210.8 f) and are 1200 kcals Popped pokeshell legs can be prepped with pincha peppernuts at the grill to get spicy pokeshell and are 2600 kcals Pokeshell meat comes when popped pokeshell legs are either heated up even higher or when cracked at a egg cracker. Pokeshell meat is also 2000 kcals Pokeshell meat can be cooked into many things, including poke shells, a pokeshell pasta made at the gas range and is a +5 quality (SW grains, pokeshell meat, Pincha PepperNut) Pokerolls,+5 (Poke meat, sleet wheat, raw egg) and Crabby Tofu +6 quality (Spicy tofu, pokeshell meat) and that will have a description of "Do you even know what being sane is anymore?" Or "Crabby, spicy, filling, and absolutely insane"
metallichydra
1200 for each leg? that's 7200 kcal per. pokeshell!
cpy
Ton of lime is no use to you?
Xenologist
They still drop lime. I forgot something to add. Each leg is 1100 grams and a dupe eats 600 grams out of it Meat is shellless, and the shell is 500 grams of groundable lime.

Sasza22
I feel like tame pkeshells should molt more than once during lifetime. Currently there is indeed no reason to tame one. If you want lime just let them live wildly. Maybe the last "molt" they drop could become as cooking ingredient as well. So you have a choice. Either crush it to lime or cook it to a pokeshel meal. metallichydra
the description of pokeshells even state that they will continue to molt and drop shells throughout their life.

Another half-finished thing. They also have "pokeshell molt" (5kg, made on baby->adult) and "pokeshell molt" (10kg, made on death), which is highly confusing. Anyways, pokeshells should probably not also become great meat, they'd solve too many things at once.

If they become a good meal at the cost of 10kg of potential lime it would be kinda balanced. At least for the current iteration.

Either crush it to lime or cook it to a pokeshel meal. Eggs are the only reason to tame them. Your ideal setup is then few egg makers in a proper stable, who's eggs are dumped into a separate chamber for the pokeshells to reach adulthood in, and are promptly slaughtered after that. Shame there's no efficient way to automate ranching and you can't even drown pokeshells.

Another morph? You have to feed the crabs with food to breed the delicious crabs.

Different food causing pokeshells to drop edible molts. Not really realistic but cool.
