Briison
So I found an infected polluted oxygen vent and I want to put it to use to make clay, using the deodorizers. I want to let the room fill with oxygen, and then empty once it over pressures the vent, and then let it fill back up. I've been trying to use the memory toggle to make it work, but the only example I can find is to fill a water tank and the output of the memory toggle working with a water vent. Aelfled
The normal way to handle such is to have a small room around the actual vent which only contains an atmo sensor and a pump, which pushes the gas out into a larger room through a high pressure vent, so that the vent doesn't over-pressurise Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/110585-empty-a-room-of-gas-and-then-let-it-fill-back-up/#findComment-1245850 Share on other sites
Lafara
polluted oxygen no longer flow. you could see it stagnate here and there with da mass of oxygen gas. How about this. The deodorizer can grab PO2 from two tiles away. So put a layer of petro (to withstand 500C heat) between the deodorizer and the PO2, and you can keep the polluted oxygen completely contained. Each deodorizer can suck up 90g/s. Once you know your output rate, you can decide how far across to make this. The room will be sucked to vacuum when dormant. In my current oasis base, I'm 100% satisfying all my O2 needs with off-gassing from PW and slime, using one of these contraptions to keep a pure oxygen room at insanely high pressures. Note that the deodorizers DO NOT overheat, and DO NOT over pressurize. Oxygen and polluted oxygen have the same "density." So yes, you're correct that the gasses can stagnate. The trick, then, is to have a pressure differential, to make sure the gasses move. In @mathmanican's picture above, you can do the same thing without the petrol by simply pumping the oxygen out of the room above the deoderizers. Any time the oxygen pressure is lower than the polluted oxygen, the polluted oxygen will try to expand past the deoderizers. When its in range, they'll suck it up and push oxygen out the other side. That said, @mathmanican's version does, importantly, prevent the polluted oxygen from expanding too far and getting into your base.
