BurningSprite
Lol Pseudoscience would be a good name but for younger players, they probably wouldn't understand
Syd
Wilson probably thinks of magic as a less understood branch of science.
Developer Kevin Posted January 3, 2013 Developer Share Posted January 3, 2013 Wilson self-identifies as a scientist. I'm not sure the rest of the scientific community would agree with him.

Syd
By that are you saying Wilson's "inventions" are not as scientific as he assumes they are?Well, we can probably assume that the alchemy engine is (canonically speaking) Wilson's work, and just mentioning alchemy would likely get him laughed out of any sort of scientific institute....Though, of course, what would they know about science? Obviously, the world just isn't ready for Wilson's brilliance. Mad science, they call it? Bah! They're clearly incapable of comprehending the wonders of his inventions. Ickorus
Clarke's Third Law:"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."Yes, gluing beard hair to some meat and then nailing that to a piece of wood is highly advanced technology. mobius187
Well, we can probably assume that the alchemy engine is (canonically speaking) Wilson's work, and just mentioning alchemy would likely get him laughed out of any sort of scientific institute.Well historically there were many famous scientists who believed and practiced/studied alchemy (some in secret). However by the 1920's I'm sure most rational scientists had delegated it to a "crackpot theory". It would be funny if an invention in the game required lead ingots... so Wilson reverses common alchemy and turns gold ore into lead. ...Though, of course, what would they know about science? Obviously, the world just isn't ready for Wilson's brilliance. Mad science, they call it? Bah! They're clearly incapable of comprehending the wonders of his inventions.Yes, the "Magic" tab should be renamed "Mad Science".
Syd
Yeah, by Wilson's day, he'd probably quickly get labeled as a crackpot not worth listening to if he took alchemy seriously.I've also had similar thoughts about a reverse alchemy engine. The alchemy engine could be something that Wilson initially considered a failure, doing the complete opposite of what he intended, but on a bizarre island that is rich with gold but lacking in other metals, it could have surprising uses...
