waterville/emerville servers?

Recommended Posts

some time ago i was playing on a server called waterville and the owner was a woman (dunno if its ok to say her steam name here).

it was a modded endless server with own islands and there were raining coins from the sky all the time and evry killed mob dropped coins and you could buy items in gorge shops with these coins. there were also a real modded arena where you could fight bosses and large amount of mobs.

so my question is does someone remember these servers and what happened to them? i can imagine they cost money and lots time to be modded so i assume thats the reason?

are there any kind of these servers still active?

i remember seeing @KoreanWaffles playing there. maybe you know what happened to them?

Or... you can ask that person on Steam I suppose?! Seems you know them so that would be the shortest course of action.

i know her only from the server and its 1 year ago.

and not only this specific server.  there were some servers which were highly modded but seems they arent there anymore. they didnt used only mods from the workshop. they had own mods like complete hamlet and gorge in dst and shops evrywhere where you could buy all items in the game for coins which you can earn during you playing on the server.

and the mods they had werent in the workshop

If you know their nick, you can ask about them here - is no "name and shame", as you're only searching for a specific player and their servers. Also there may be other forumites that know this person or even the person themselves and can answer you if seeing their mentioning in here. I too vaguely remember an "emerville" name, but don't know where to place it.

Edit: hey look, you can find the group by plainly searching that name, as that's the exact label: Emerville.

There are 3 admins in it, I suppose one of them is the person you're looking for. Or just ask about group info on their boards.

Yo, I played the Waterville server before and joined the server's discord group. To summarise what happened, due to continuous lag issues, the person who created the server had ended it in January. Unfortunately, I don't have any screenshots of my time on that server, but heres a screenshot by a member in the discord group.

So when you spawned in, how did you start getting involved with the shops? What was the currency used and how did players get some? Was any PvP allowed? Thanks for the info!

The server was already set up with a lit portal area (with the Gorge residents for players to buy items) and another lit wormhole that directs to a community base island. Gorge coins are used as currency, and players are already given a set number of coins when they first entered the server.

To earn coins, players fight mobs that give them coins (the more difficult the mob is, the greater the value of the coins dropped), and sometimes the server will generate raining coins (set amount). Other than buying the usual stuff from portal (food, weapons, resources), they can also buy a base island and other worldgen stuff, though they need to contact the server creator. Players can also convert gold to Gnaw's favors for the casino slots.

PvP isn't enabled, though there is an arena that players can enter and activate to fight a set number of mobs and bosses, and there is a leaderboard for the number of mobs killed by each player.

That all sounds really fun and interesting! How was it decided where a player could make a base for themselves if they couldn't afford an island? At what point did the server start getting lag problems?

evryone could make a base where he wanted. world was full with bases. after some playing you could afford an isalnd. it wasnt so hard. or you just ask the admin for some help. also they had this mod where you had a personal base. you made walls and no one could enter your base without permission. same with chests

I joined the server somewhere during October last year, but there are already lag problems that the server creator had tried to resolve (the server was paid to be hosted) along with other long term players. It seemed to be mod issues at first, but it turned out to be base game lag problems that persisted even after the server had an official reset, and the server world had changed to reduce lag.

It has 12 player slots with the server mods on, which can increase the lag issues. Though after the reset the number of mods had decreased for lag reduction if I recall correctly. The server had a cleanup mod too, but usually, the server can only last till 1500+ days before an official reset has to be done.
