MustardWarrior
Okay so after a short amount of testing it looks like the wild pip seed planting is meant to be a mechanic that allows you to make parks but also to prevent you from making nature reserves. I've never gotten them to plant more than 3 plants in a single room and even when I created 2 adjacent rooms out of the one big room i was using, it ended with 3 plants in the two rooms combined anyway. When I would delete the plants they would fairly quickly replant them and then no other planting would occur after a reasonable wait period. I also had a room next to some wild plants and they would not plant in that room either. My guess at this point is that in order to plant a wild plant there cannot be 3 wild plants within a 10 tile "radius" of the plant so maybe like a 21x21 square centered on the plant or something like that. It looks like wild plant farming is out, while still allowing you to make parks, while not allowing you to make nature reserves at least not ones with a reasonable geometry. I suppose you might be able to do some low density wild farming which would more or less be indistinguishable from just having a base decorated with wild plants. They also seem to prefer to plant on dirt tiles. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/108642-pip-seed-planting-testing/ Share on other sites
Kangaax
The difference between parks and nature reserves makes a lot of sense. They don't want to allow people to farm wild plants or recreate reserves, just make a couple plants or parks here and there. Good to know! MustardWarrior
Just now, Kangaax said: The difference between parks and nature reserves makes a lot of sense. Actually I take back what I said before some simple math shows that if you put the plants at opposite ends, you can still make a nature reserve of reasonable size. So what I said only applies to more compact nature reserves. But I think that was the reason for why that number was chosen. I'm just glad I can dig up my base without being punished now maybe leaving a few dirt tiles or wild plants in place.
