How Can I Create and Restart a Custom Map on Cycle 1?

Recommended Posts

I have spent lots of time tweaking a custom map that I think would be lots of fun for others to play.  My problem is that it is currently on cycle 10, and that I wish to have the map start out on the first cycle with the option to choose your own duplicants.  I also want the map to revert back to being undiscovered so that all the creatures do not spawn ahead of time.  Can someone please give me some advice or point me towards a mod that will grant me the desired result?  Thanks in advance! -Nicholas

So, are you saying you tweaked the map with sandbox mode or Dev tools, and now wish to start over with those changes saved?

If that's the case, I'm not sure how to help you.

If you just started a custom map, explored it to see what's on it, and wish to start over. Then you can simply open the menu, copy the seed, and use that same seed on a new map generation.

I wish to convert my save file into a playable scenario, much like Helocina, or The Rock.  I can see that they are both YAML files and not save states.  Also those require a random generation, whereas I would like to keep my map "as is".

What you might be able to do easily is to save the whole map as template (debug menu) and paste it onto a new map. Both processes will take a long time and the chance is high for your aim to be off (you'd need to reveal the map which in turns activates everything for it to be true). Using a point of reference and looking by how many x and y squares you are off should help. However duplicants can not be chosen... unless

someone may be able to make a "challenge_world.yaml" which is able to simply load one template which also serves as starting base

I have attempted something similar to this by editing the startingBase.yaml file.  Issues arise (Black Hole Errors) if the printing pod is not directly centered in the middle of the map.  When the dupes spawn (not in front of the pod) the game crashes.  The other issue with making a template of the whole map causes significant frame rate drops, as my map is oversized.  It could work if there was a way to "undiscover" the map.  Your "challenge_world.yaml" suggestion is the ideal solution.  Any ideas on how this may be accomplished?

Thank you for your time, efforts, and suggestions.
