Daxterr Posted May 11, 2019 Share Posted May 11, 2019 I'm eagerly waiting for the next patch to start a new colony, but I have to agree generally with this thread. The disease system used to have so much life, and now it feels like it's had the excitement and life taken out of it. On the bright side, an experienced player would probably never get their duplicants sick with the old system. The problem is though, that the diseases are pointless now. They removed the most important symptoms from food poisoning and slimelung (vomiting and death). They should bring back the 2 major symptoms, and make it so popping pills just reduces the amount of time sick, instead of just curing it. In the older version you could feel more for the dupes because step by step you let them learn things. Now it is just exp & lvls , it seems to me like a very sloppy way to make a change to such an important system. If the older system had something like (custom) roles and i could set a sequence of jobs/professions for every role so that i can just set a role to every dupe and dont need to set a new job/profession every time they would finish one. Lutzkhie Posted May 11, 2019 Share Posted May 11, 2019 I stopped playing due to some hardware issues, I love the game its really just the performance but now I got some upgrades and was able to play again without thinking of the fps drops later on, I was playing the latest version and said Ill make it to space before the release but then I realized there is a 2 week preview build and I stopped playing again wait until the release I dont really care what they release Ill adapt or improvise to every changes they make. Is all about setup a medbay room the same way you setup oxygen or food production. Health should be among the duplicants' base need and having a game system (like the old one) that let you completely ignore a mechanic feels bad, at this point medical building should just be removed. I like the direction of setting up medicine production(apothecary+smart storage that turn it off at 10 med packs is enough) and med bay with 1 bed and at least two doctors(which isn't much considering that if they have interest in the job the morale impact is negligible). Phosporite and balm lily there's plenty on the map already and in spots where there is no slimelung. It is rather safe to break a chlorine pocket with balm lily and dreckos(for phosporite) before heading in the slime biome. Maybe during the beta the health system is always being pushed back among the deadlines and some people got just used to ignore medical buildings and are willing to continue to do so. I stand by the unpopular opinion that still deseases are not intrusive enough even this way. They should be the unexpected event that force you to change and adapt your game plan. I started sooo very many games testing, and I'm fairly casual and never got any to space, as I'd restart with every large-ish content addition. So I'm pretty sure if I start a colony now, I'll just be restarting, again, at release. I'll probably give it even a minor patch or two past release. Then I'm looking forward to my first semi-permanent save file!
