Make Willow have better control over fire

Recommended Posts

With Bernie buff after rework, I feel that Willow is stepping into Wendy footstep and it's quite sad since she possibly could do many things with fire mechanics.

Something I could think off

  • Most basic version: She could extinguish fire in small area instantly
  • Better version: She could capture and release fire at will. This could be done by her lighter or another device. When you release fire from that device, it will become a mini version of Dwarf Star that works pretty much like a tier 3 campfire (degraded over time, same heat and light unit)
  • Even better: She could even capture Endothermic Fire, release it as a mini Polar Light
  • She could lose 20-40HP in the 2 last cases or she loses half of the fuel value each time she captures and releases fire.

This would make her a very valuable asset in team play, especially in the newbie team when they need to deal with summer fire (less depend on flingomatics)

What do you think?

Yes, since water balloon and luxury fan are quite underused in DST.

It's helpful for control summer fire and undo accidental fire. So the amount of HP penalty could be changed (20HP maybe) but should not very low so players could abuse this to situationally replace flingomatics

As @Canis pointed out.. This is pretty much a Luxury Fan feature. Hmm.. I mean I'm not totally against it, specially when u say it would costs 40 hp.. But I do use the luxury fan a lot.. So im a bit torn on this one.

Good suggestion anyways

It would be much more than a Luxury Fan in the Deluminator case (capture and release fire at will). You can create a mini version of Dwarf Star by releasing fire stored in Deluminator. That star at max would pretty much like a tier 3 campfire (degraded over time, same heat and light unit). She could even capture Endothermic Fire, release it as a mini Polar Light and basically become Queen of Summer

The HP penalty should be adjusted based on how good she could manipulate fire in DST or she'll become too OP. 20-30 would be ok in my opinion.

My main point is the fire mechanics in DST are various and interesting. And Willow has such a great potential to master and manipulate these things. So rework around these would make her much more unique and useful than current form

hmmm.. tbh I don't see that she ever said she can indeed "control" fire... no real hard evidence in lore about this ... this is a bit of a misconception

IMO she cannot control at and she is fascinated by it... by its destruction

I didn't deduce from lore for this suggestion. One basic logic to design unique characters is they could easily master at something that takes others much more time and effort to achieve. Who else would be really good at fire-related stuff but not Willow? However, in this case, Willow doesn't control fire directly, but via a magical device, which is very common in this world (magical books, magical axe, magical minions...)

Besides that, lore kinda make sense for Willow in real life only. In DST world, things could be interpreted very differently

There's someone who never used luxury fan before, but there's no one who used luxury fan once.

You missed the entire part of capture and release fire below. Anyway, I edited my first post for more clarity
