An epic suggestion to you, devs

Recommended Posts

Every sandbox sooner or later gets boring. Some are trying to prolong the time-until-bored playtime by strictly forbidding to speedup the game process, like in the ****ty Clockwork Empires. Well it's good to see that this game is keeping it on a decent medium level. But the closer is the endgame the more boring it gets anyways. Okay, you can **** with your friends, like, whos colony survives longer after everything is mined out, but not more than 3-4 times, even when money is involved.

So i came to a following suggestion - when a player mines out every natural tile, except neutronium and magma, then, after full 10-20-50-100 cycles a special research becomes available - the creation of neutronium, a neutronium recipe and a special teleport gate.

So in the molecular forge we create neutronium (you can give it any complicated recipe you can, i was thinking about 1 ton of supercoolant + 1 ton of thermium = 100 kg of neutronium), and then we can build that special teleport gate from this neutronium. Also this gate should serve as a storage for 100-1000 tons capacity. The storage should be capable to contain ANYTHING - liquids, solid gases, food, critter eggs, seeds, materials. After we build this portal, the vanilla portal becames non-functional. So, when we activate it - we transfer all the dupes and the content of the storage to a newly generated map. BUT! One of the dupes should remain ( FOR TEH DRAMA!!!!11111ELEVEN) (thats why the nonfunctional main gate, so you "must" sacrifice one dupe), like, to keep the portal opened. you can even make it to charge only from the manual generator, so it makes more realism :D.

P.S.  C'mon, devs, make a tutorial how to make a new technology mod, SRSLY.

Cant stress how bad this idea is. We have a really looooong way to go regarding the endgame as far as I know.

I feel that the game is barely halfway done. We have a magma biome that's lying at the very bottom that can be substituted for something else entirely.

We are yet to see what Klei has in store for the endgame. One thing is for sure. There will be something. I`m inclined to think it will be more about time travel based on the lore entries but might as well end in a new asteroid start.

I definetly don`t want an ending that makes you lose your colony. At lest the dupes should be allowed to survive. But how to do an endgame goal like that? New start is one way but let me call it lazy. Don`t Starve alredy did that. How about something fresh. Building bases on other asteroids doesn`t sound that exciting. Well it is but seems too "normal" for Klei. I hope they surprise me with something.

I think multiple colonies with a shortage of key resources in each one forcing/allowing trade would be pretty interesting.  I know folks have suggested trade across players, but even trade within a single player game could add a new layer.

Another direction could be random cataclysms.  Maybe a final-tier project could be to build an orbiting solar observatory which requires all of the end-game materials.  And when you do, you find out that your star has hyper-active phases which cause everything from massive electrical surges in your grid, damaging random buildings, to solar flares which cause giant heat bubbles inside your base, or your geysers can start spewing other elements with intense heat/cold and overpressuring to 50kg, etc.

After all, the game is about survival, and when you have mastered all of the mundane threats to survival, the logical conclusion is to create unnatural ones that challenge the established, well-tuned systems that you've built.

Actually instead of teleporting them between dupe bases, I would like to use it for

Sorry bro implementing maps that you can switch between is not a job for a modder, its more like if the devs want to make a big upgrade to the game, its just too much of a job.

Creating better dupes.

Should be generally possible to mod maybe a job for seeker or darthnihilus which i think is linainverse here I am mainly doing mapmanipulations and a few buildings.

After rereading i guess thats the only thing my mod has in common with the suggestion.
