So, I tried to repudiate my own claim by trying to survive a full year without using flint once. Here's what I did: I turned off Flint entirely as I created an entirely new world. Everything else remained completely the same. DAY 1: I picked Wickerbottom as my character. Then, I ran around the map, picking as much grass and twigs as possible. My goal was to find a rock biome, take the rocks, make a hammer, go down to the Pig King, destroy all the pig huts, and feed the pigskins to Pig King for gold. After that, I could create an alchemy engine. Once I had obtained the alchemy engine, I produced a gold axe, and a gold pickaxe. I mined down some gold boulders, and brought the flint to a small moleworm area for them to delete it from my world. There was a nicely placed skeleton with some logs and a pickaxe near pig king, so I could get right to making a crock pot. I burned some trees, used some of the extra cut stone from the pig houses, and some of my twigs to make it. Then, I made some "op" meatballs from a rabbit I caught in a trap, just for the joke. With Woodie, you'd already have an infinite durability axe, and you can mine in your Beaver form. Maxwell could be a nice challenge if you can't make puppets with gold tools? Theres literally a piece of flint right in front of wicker. You also didn't say where you managed to get that axe.
