How about we get to burn gas in gas lamps for light, gas heaters for heat and in general get som good alternate light sources and heat sources that doesn't rely on electricity.

Introducing oil could do the same - not because we couldn't use it to generate power and then use electricity but to give variety with pros and cons for each. Like decor is better than normal light bulbs but a slightly increased chance of getting a disease from breathing around it.

Also cooking with GAS could be nice...

That would be the false variety, I think. You need electricity anyways, so in any case you will have some gas-powered generators. So why it would be better to make a gas light source, which will need a gas supply, and will probably output some waste, CO2 or something, than an electric one, for which you already have an electricity.

Also, keep in mind that the gas travels in chunks, and with quite a low speed. So most probably your light will either flicker, or the pipe will be full of unused gas. The electricity right now is the only medium that allows for precise distribution of materials.

Gas lights is kind of silly.  Electricity is (irl) far superior in every way for making light.  However, when it comes to heating, gas is far superior to electricity irl.  This includes cooking, water-tepidizing, space heating, etc.  It would all depend on how the devs set it up but they could easily make using gas for specific heat related tasks superior to electricity (heck, irl there are gas propane powered refrigerators).  First would be simple efficiency.  Just figure out how much electricity you get from a given quantity of gas, and then make the gas version output the same product, but for less gas than it would take to make the electricity.   You'd get a double-incentive presumably, when the gas appliance also puts out less CO2 vs the gas generator.  This could simply be via greater efficiency, or the appliance could actually output less CO2 per quantity of gas input, vs the NG generator.    Though presumably the downside of the appliances would be that the CO2 would not be piped.

As far as any intermittency of gas supply, the appliances would presumably have an internal reservoir, as pretty much all other machines in ONI do (as I understand it).  This would buffer against small lapses in supply.

I think gas appliances would be an excellent addition to the game.
