conveyor Rails do not transfer heat off-screen

  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Fixed

Just as title says, materials moved in a conveyor rail will not transfer heat with their surroundings when not looking at them (off screen).

They work as intended when they are viewed on screen, but stop working when not.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Load hot materials into a conveyor belt. 2. Run the belt through cold gas or liquid for example. 3. Check the temperature of the gas after a few cycles while your looking at it. 4. Repeat step 3 but this time let the system run off-screen for a few cycles and check the temperature of the gas or liquid. 5. Compare results.

User Feedback

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

I played around some more with this bug to see how it behaves.

This is what I noticed in addition:

If you pan your camera directly left or right or top or bottom from the contraption that uses the rails then everything still works.

But if you pan Diagonally, that is if your off-screen and the contraption is for example to your top-right, then it will cease to function.

EDIT of an EDIT: No, it seems that the program wasn't the cause of this, its still occurs when panning diagonally away from the rails.

Its okay, you found a solution, but it makes no sense at all. Its 100% irrelevant on what CPU-cores the game is running, its always the same calculations. Enabling/disabling Process Lasso should make no difference in gameplay mechanics. It wont changes the code, it wont change anything.

I have edited, again, my reply.

TLDR

Bug still persists, process lasso has nothing to do with it.

This post, made by wachunga nailed this bug.

I have also seen this issue and can reproduce it. I have a setup on an iron volcano that is cooling the metal on conveyor rail to about 80 degrees and it runs perfectly during normal play or if I let if run while on screen for 100 cycles.  However, I was testing a pacu farm across the map up and to the right and just let the screen focus on the farm for a while.  After several cycles, I went over to my iron volcano and the iron coming out was over 200 degrees.  If I sit there and leave it onscreen, I can see the remaining iron on the rails cool down very rapidly and start coming out at the normal temperature, but it is obviously the heat exchange is not happening when the conveyor rail is offscreen in my setup.  The volcano is pretty close to the center of the map, so I think during normal gameplay it never stays offscreen for long.
