Killing Germs

Recommended Posts

If you use Water with Food Poisoning for Water Coolers, your Dupes will contract those Germs.  I do not know if the Espresso Machine passes Germs like the Water Cooler or not.  In theory, it should not, because coffee is generally very hot.  But that's real life.  Games do not always follow real life.

Plants will destroy the Germs in any water they consume.

Electrolyzers used to put Germs into the air from the Water they used.  Is that not the case anymore?  Not that airborne Food Poisoning is dangerous at all.  But it just looks abominable on the Germ Overlay.  Now that I think about it, this must have been the case (if it isn't still) because I remember people talking about how it's a defense mechanism against Slimelung.  Only 1 type of Germ can be present on a surface or in a fluid, and Food Poisoning "wins" over Slimelung.

....does anything else even consume Water?

Thanks for all the useful tips, fellas.

I ended up using a "batch sanitizing system" for my domestic water recycling, based on the advice given here.

I started a new game so using manual switches until I research germ sensors.  Looking forward to automating it more.  :D

1. Polluted wastewater goes through tank 1 (lower left) into tank 2 (upper left) which is bathed in chlorine gas and stops at valve.

2. When tank 2 is full, close valve between tank 1 and tank 2 to prevent new dirty water.  Open valves to send from tank 2 back to tank 2 again in a loop.  This flushes out all the germs in pipes and takes about 15 seconds.

3. Once all the germs are gone, allow water to empty into sieve  and tank 3 (on the right).  Now it's clean, germ free water.

4. Once tank 2 is emptied out, close the valves back and return to step 1.
