Jumpp
I've dug out the bottom two rows of a tile over a steam geyser (the first two above the neutronium base) so that my guy could research it. The upper two rows remain covered by the natural tile. When this geyser wakes up, will it emit steam, or will it be blocked by the tiles I've left? KittenIsAGeek
If you click on the geyser, does it say "over pressure?" If so, then the geyser's eruption will be blocked.
crypticorb
From what I know, a geyser will output into any uncovered tile it can around it, even if it's only the two. If no tiles remain under pressure around it in a radius (don't know the exact number), it will overpressurize.
Doddler
I think you're safe to uncover the very bottom row above the neutronium, which is handy to identify a geyser, but the second row will allow it to output. I don't think you can study the geyser and have it's output blocked.
Sasza22
Someone found out that the geysers emit in 5 tiles shaped in a cross in the middle of it. This means you can safely dig one tile from the bottom without it emitting anything but if you dig all (if it was possible) it would emit a bit.
