prevent the guards from burning down everything

How do you prevent this when worldgen places this close by to those beetle things or when those beetle things just spawn?

The day counter was day 1 when the pig guard decided to hit the wevile bug. I had literally just walked on screen to a fire. I can understand the guards needing some source of light during dusk and night, just not why a torch that can burn everything, even the homes of the town, netting homeless pigs. Don't get me wrong, I've learned to play around this, it's just my point of criticism.
