Really fighting bees isn't hard, just a spear, logsuit and bee hat. Just spam space bar and you'll be fine. Honey is too good a reward for a small effort.

No really now. Literally 80. I was hitting every beehive to get the attention of all of them. Walking on a killer bee infested biome usually makes around 30-40 follow you.
