Tobruk
Dupes will always pick the eggs of certain species once they are laid You can't uncheck a certain ranch for egg-collection, so that it is used purely for reproduction Critters age and die, so if all their eggs are cracked, the species will go extinct Assumption: no wild critters of that species are present
he77789
The team allowed to the reproduction stables are blocked to the egg cracker and vice versa. Problem Solved!
lurkinglurker
Incubators need to be able to set continuous order, and with that add they should have a priority level too. Since (IIRC) both egg cracker and incubators are deliver jobs, the above allows the changed Incubators to be set to a higher priority level, which means the eggs will always go to incubators before egg crackers. The constant population influx due to the changed incubators will allow a population to constantly refresh, and never die out.

I`m afraid this isn`t true as the incubator is a specialist job and only ranchers may use it. So if there`s no rancher available the egg might end cracked even with lower priority. But it would be nice if it worked how you describe or if the incubator would accept the egg from any dupe but could be turned on only by ranchers.
