Alarsin
Do speed changing effects such as cane, lightning charge, yellow amulet, piggyback/marble suit or Wolfgang's mightiness affect your speed when riding a beefalo? When I tried this, I felt like I was going a little faster with a cane, can someone confirm this? Thanks. Extant
As far as I remember, no speed boost applies to tamed Beefalo as well. Not even roads. I can double-check though for you. Edit #1 Okay, I've confirmed that the walking cane, the magiluminescence, and the roads do not apply to a domesticated Beefalo. I tested this using a stop watch and landmarks to check how quickly I could get from point A to point B. I can't say whether an overcharged WX-78 or Mighty Wolfgang's speed multipliers apply to the beefalo, but my guess would be no. Edit #2 Also, marble suit does not slow the Beefalo down at all. I'm pretty sure no equip (other than the saddle) affects the beefalo's speed. Again, I can't say for certain about WX-78 and Mighty Wolfgang. If any WX-78 or Wolfgang players can input on this subject, that would be greatly appreciated. fimmatek
Extant is right, what's more, as to my knowledge neither WX nor Wolfgang affects the beefalo's speed, it was stated in an update long ago. Even if your character is sleepy (just woke up from Bearger's yawning, for example), riding the beefalo has the same speed as a fully awake character. Even if the beefalo looks sleepy as well So only saddles (should) affect the riding speed. Well, and spider web, afaik. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if that's a bug or not. I'm pretty sure that's as intended since beefalo walk on webs, too. Come to think of it... I wonder if a domesticated beefalo gets slowed down by webbing if the rider is Webber? I'll have to test that out. Also, I just pulled some nifty shenanigans with console commands to make me the expert beefalo tamer having a fully tamed beefalo on day 1! And so, no, overcharged WX-78 nor Mighty Wolfgang affects the beefalo's speed either. Thanks, stopwatch for being useful for once! Edit #1 Fun fact, the size of the domesticated beefalo also increases when Wolfgang becomes mighty. No, seriously, Mighty Wolfgang makes the beefalo grow like 50% in size. It's absolutely hilarious hehe. CaptainChaotica
(cracks up) I seriously never knew that. I have seen that when you dance, the beefalo dances too...which is ADORABLE, by the way. Now, the next question would be: Can you feed your beefalo _coffee_...? (evil grin) (it probably doesn't actually do anything, but it'd be funny to try.) ...Notorious Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/93977-do-speed-bonuses-affect-beefalos/#findComment-1068686 Share on other sites
ShadowDuelist
As far as I remember, Wolfgang "technically" affects the beefalo speed, but on the nerfing side. Since speed scales with character size, a larger beefalo would indeed run faster. To compensate this, mighty wolfgang's large beefalo does indeed run slower than he should, but only to compensate the speed bonus and make it just like if it was ridden by any other character. The same applies for wimpy wolfgang, as his negative speed bonus is not reflected on the actual speed of the boof. Oh and regarding webber and beefalos, webber does pass his spidery powers to the beefalo when actively riding it, and he does not call out spiders nor gets slowed by spider nests, which is sort of an oversight I think.
