Oil Refinery Question

Recommended Posts

Hey people, Just a few questions about the oil refinery;

  1. What happens if you pump 125C+ Oil into it? Is the storage a void for heat or will it heat it up similar to a farm tile.
  2. What temperature does it output? Same as the input? Fixed? or same as the machine?

I noticed it says on the Wiki it doesnt matter what temp and it will always put out at 74.9 degrees.... but has it changed?

Also what about the petroleum generators? are they the same

Over time, the Oil Refinery will accumulate heat, and re-radiate it to it's environment.  Eventually, the Refinery will start taking Overheat damage until it is destroyed.  The general area will become quite toasty.  All buildings that store materials inside them work this way.  The contents are interacting with the machine for as long as they are inside it.

The Refinery has a fixed temperature output of 75 C.

The Petro Gen does not have a fixed output.  It produces it's waste products at the same temperature as the Generator itself.

I have my oil refinery in a closed room with two wheezeworts and even with it being run continously other than when the dupes are sleeping the room stays around 20C with the NG being removed at > 1kg.  I use the cold NG to cool the battery/generator.

The incoming oil is at 100C.  I expect this setup would take it at 125C without risk of overheating if all your piping is abysallite.

it's currently disabled as the storage tank is full and the dupes would go make short bursts to top up what the plastic makers were using so the room is even colder now.
