Santhor
My current map seed has 3 (!) strong copper volcanos, now you can guess i'm basically swimming in copper right now. Any ideas what i could use it for to get something useful out of that heavy overflow? Neotuck
2 options First you can use the heat to make an oil boiler for natural gas ( you'll get more natural gas then any vent ) Second you can cool the copper as volcano erupts for free refined copper ( check my post on "Farming the Metal Volcanos" ) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92880-molten-copper-overflow/#findComment-1057884 Share on other sites
Santhor
Yes i cooled them down already its refined copper, 40t+ rapidly increasing, i'm just not sure what i could do/use that refined copper for. My magma volcano boils the oil already for what i need. Neotuck
Might as well start replacing all your tiles in your base with copper metal ties. The decor and run boost will be worth it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92880-molten-copper-overflow/#findComment-1057888 Share on other sites
Santhor
Ah yes well thanks that might be worth increasing the effectivity a bit , currently i really cant find any other uses for refined metals, all other geysers are getting used to sustain water/power/food but that refined metal was just building up more and more Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92880-molten-copper-overflow/#findComment-1057890 Share on other sites

I’ll post my setup in a bit. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92880-molten-copper-overflow/#findComment-1057933 Share on other sites
TOOK14
@Neotuck We've talked about volcano boilers before, and I figure this would be a good place to show the design I've been working on, complete with dupe access. Spoiler The dupe access airlock has buffer at 2, filter at 1, the buffer should be 5 if unpowered. The gas pump airlock filters are 5 on the lower, 10 on the higher. The oil hydro sensor is under 20, Pwater sensor is under 0, atmo is above 510, and the thermo is under 110. Finally the hydrogen line runs to an AETN for cooling. AzeTheGreat
I must be missing something...how are you cooling the natural gas, what's the hydrogen on the right doing, and what is that sweeper for...? 2 hours ago, TOOK14 said: @Neotuck We've talked about volcano boilers before, and I figure this would be a good place to show the design I've been working on, complete with dupe access. TOOK14
I use the Pwater just to the right to cool the nat gas down to ~110c, and the sweeper arm in there is for dirt collection. The hydrogen line is there to condense the steam back into water, and just continuously cycles between the water collection tank and an Anit-Entropy Thermo Nullifier (AETN). To state it clearly, I boil oil into nat gas, and then use the Pwater boiler on the side to bring the the oil boiler down to around 110c so I can pump it out without damaging my gas pump. The time between boiling oil and cooling down to pumping temps is a bit long, but if it wasn't I'd probably not be able to get the boiler hot enough to boil petroleum, and then the whole thing would just stall. It's hardly an optimal design, but I like it, and I'm interested in comparing it to @Santhor and @Neotucks' designs, hence why I posted it here.
