Breathing Morb farts

Recommended Posts

I ran a little experiment I'm sure many have tried and made an oxygen production plant using morbs and deodorizers

This build outputs about 500 g/s O2 germ free and under 20C

The reason for the long path is to allow tome for the slime lung germs to die off.

I ran this build for 50 cycles in debug and not a single germ reached the gas pump

Please feel free to share your thoughts and/or idea of using morbs for oxygen :)

Issue I find is more trying to get the morbs where I want them and then it takes SO long to get any qty of them.  They are really frustrating to work with.

This is true it takes time to spawn them but they can be trapped and transported to a critter drop off.  They do add up over time as an unlimited source of polluted oxygen

Are you sure this really produces 500 g/s with 20 morbs? I tested the following setup with 10 morbs for 6 cycles and came out to 17.3 kg per tile in the 10-tile storage chamber.

That gives me 173 kg produced over 6 cycles, which is 28.8333 kg / cycle or 48 g/s. Since we had 10 morbs, that's 4.8 g/s per morb.

Atmo switch is set to pump above 500 g and I started the morb room with 500 g oxygen. The water tiles have 100 kg of water in them. I also tried 400 kg but then the morbs would move only very rarely and produce almost nothing.

How do people get morbs to produce the full 25 g/s that the wiki says they produce? Restricting their movement doesn't help either, if you get them stuck in a 1 tile area they won't produce anything. In fact, I also ran a similar test at the same time over a dozen cycles with one morb in various room widths to compare their output over time and the more space you give them the better they do. Room widths tested were 2-6, the 6 wide room did best although 5 wide was close, the others were significantly less.

Disregard above post. The test was run with the superspeed option (10x normal speed) which caused morb production rates to plummet. Once I tested on 3x speed with a valve set to 150 g/s the morbs were able to keep the pipe more or less filled without backing up the pump. That's only 15 g/s per morb though, so still not what you might expect from the wiki.
