Spiders attacking walls make no sense.

Spiders are really the only mob in the game that shouldnt be able to attack walls yet they do anyway, and because of it you're not allowed to have a spider farm anywhere near your base, and webbers cant build walls at all if they want spider friends in the base. And another thing, webber should not automatically attack spiders as if they're enemies, just like other characters don't auto attack pigs and bunnies.

Regarding spiders attacking walls, I used to think the same until they added unbreakable structures.

You can now make a work around that by making a "Wall" of sculptures, one next to the other. It's harder to build than a regular wall, but it will allow you to keep your pets contained permanently. The other options are cave ins rocks from caves or glass structures from the antlion fight.

The Spiders' AI is very robust, and not advanced. They basically left it untouched till today.

Their AI is constructed like this: Attack any entity on - sight, eat any meat on - sight, leave their den at dusk, enter their den at day, defend den.

I would like to see these creatures being smarter.

I agree with you, though their AI needs an improvement. They're way too dumb.

That's true for almost every mob in DST with some of them having a few special perks (like bunnymen disengaing on low health).

What do you think of as an improvement? What should spiders be able to do?

You know, some extra animations, more actions, interactions with other spiders, see them expand their den instead of it growing like a PLANT...
