Working the Refinery - Ohhh Mr. Duuuupe?

Recommended Posts

Alright, silly question.  I had *thought* the Refinery was on the Engineer priority, but it's obviously not and it's being rather ornery in getting it to work.  This particular base is having a few power problems, but can someone confirm for me if the Refinery is on the engineer priority?

There is something wonky going on with the refinery.  I send a dupe there, and they'll start refining.  5-10 seconds later they leave to go do a delivery task.  The refinery has the highest sub priority, and the dupe in question is set to highest priority for engineering.  I can get them to start the job... but I can't get them to STAY on the job.  I have to keep using move orders to keep them on task.

Has anyone else been seeing the same thing?

The refinery will produce petroleum faster than it can store crude oil

This means all the crude oil stored within it will empty causing the task to reset until it fills up again

My suggestion is to have someone with the task operate only, when the task is finished the dupe will wait around until the oil fills up again

It can store crude oil at 10kg/s, and produces petroleum at 5kg/sec.  I'm not sure where you're coming up with that concern, but I've never had a refinery act that way.

Running machines like refinery is operate.  See our other thread for solution to over pressured room.

Thanks @chemie .  A bit of sandbox chunked out huge swaths of the PO2 and that got the refinery behaving again.  Now I need to do it WITHOUT sandbox. :)

Needs a dedicated pump.  If you are feeding two refineries or other things the fill speed issue kicks in

You will need a pump to manage the NG anyway so put it on atmo sensor and no issue

Yeah, it was on an AND for Gas element and pressure on the pump to make the other gases (PO2 in this case) move along before I started pushing it in.
