Auto-wrangling

Recommended Posts

Just a simple question : I have a glossy drecko farm with a critter drop-off that only allows glossy dreckos. However, It happens at some point that I didn't notice a drecklet egg and it hatched in the farm. Then my rancher decided to wrangle one of my beloved glossy drecko and drop it out of the stable... Wouldn't he be suppose to wrangle the non-glossy drecko?

Your drop off must be set to allow only the things you want to keep. I have a baby raising stable separate to my main stables and the drop off is set to 20 max but only baby variants. When they turn adult they get wrangled out, even when the total population of this room is only 5-6 critters.

Check your settings and make sure only glossy drecko and glossy drecklet are allowed.

Edit - also make sure there is a drop off for the things you want to remove or they will get wrangled then just left on the floor.

The drop-off in the stable is glossy dreckos only, but the other one is for all kind of dreckos. That's why I find it odd that they wrangle my glossy dreckos since the stable is ONLY for glossy ones. Maybye I missed something. Though, I'm happy to know that it is suppose to work as I thought.

I put excess hatch in "fish release", they have selection for every critter. And yeah, that is my manual butchery. I'm not sure "critter drop-off" can be submerged, but I think they can't. Use fish release to drop critter into liquid. Didn't work for flying and slickster, they didn't drown.

They can't.

I guess that's because it was over pop then. Set the drop off to 20 pop and it should work ok. Unless you're wrangling the same species elsewhere in which case you might overpop the stable. But even then you can set your all critter release to higher prio and they'll go there instead.

It might be an idea in the long run to move the eggs out from the stable so they don't hatch in there. That will get you more eggs overall by avoiding the 'expecting' debuff. I use a sweeper arm for this but dupes will do it themselves if you build a high prio storage and set it only to eggs.

A 3rd possible solution is just set a high prio egg cracker to glossy drecko eggs so dupes destroy them. That way you only get the eggs you want hatching in the stable.

They won't drown. But they will freeze. Thanks.

Didn't Klei make a small Chang to flying critters so that they would actively move out of water to prevent drowning?  Have you tried tiling over the butcher pen to prevent their escape?
