Sharing Cool Steam vent setup

Recommended Posts

Its been a while since I used cool steam vents as I like using word seeds with good slush geysers.

But what I did before was use a steady supply of CO2 to bring the hot water down to 40C using carbon skimmers and water sieves.

After that I used 2 aqua tuners to bring the water down to 14C, good for Bristle Berries.

If I needed water for sleet wheat I would send the 14C water though an AETN to bring it to 5C

Does putting statues in the water doesn't help cooling it anymore? Sorry its been awhile since I last played

You can use Statues to accelerate the transfer of heat between the liquid and the gas above it, if it's touching both.  However, you'd get a lot more mileage out of a combination of Metal Tiles and Tempshift Plates.

Statues were the ghetto tempshift plates before we had tempshift plates.... ;) Or metal tiles.

That looks like a precursor to this build by Saturnus

I wonder what it would look like with more modern materials and buildings.  Radiant Pipes, Metal Tiles, and Tempshift Plates would probably allow this build to be dramatically smaller footprint for the same throughput.

Yeah, this statue boiler build was from a thread I started on some water plumbing experiments that turned into boiler science, which Saturnus took part in as well.

Links in the OP to further posts are broken though.

I'm somewhat tempted to try and make another boiler with current technologies and see how small I can get it with decent throughput, but then again the water sieves are becoming so important with Cosmic (only renewable source of dirt) that it would almost be foolish to use your polluted water this way and not get the dirt. (yes a boiler does get a small amount of dirt but it comes out of the mass of the pWater and it's only 0.1% or something like that)
