SchlauFuchs
Why are my solar panels overheating? They are fully in shadow of bunker doors. In Vacuum. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91429-solar-panels-overheating/ Share on other sites
SlowMaybe
It generates heat. Vacuum doesn't conduct heat away. Whether it generate heats in shadow, I'm not too sure Edit: I checked, it is still active even in shadow. willg
Is there any hot meteor residue has fallen through onto them? That has wasted a few of my setups. Not sure how to deal with that other than an autosweeper on every panel :/ Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91429-solar-panels-overheating/#findComment-1041888 Share on other sites

Vacuum isn't cold, it's empty, so no heat transfer. SchlauFuchs
okay, but what creates the heat if they are not in sunlight? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91429-solar-panels-overheating/#findComment-1041893 Share on other sites

SchlauFuchs
okay, its not the first time the Devs missed physics class at school. So what are cooling recommendations? Do pipes through the panels with cold liquids do the trick? Do pipes through the panels with cold liquids do the trick? If they are in the vacuum, the only cooling methods I know of is to expel a gas over it to absorb the heat and be lost in space. Otherwise you need to build them under the surface so that they have asteroid tiles behind them Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91429-solar-panels-overheating/#findComment-1041901 Share on other sites
SchlauFuchs
That will need lots of glass... The panels are walkable, aren't they airtight? I could have a second floor below that flooded with H2 and some Wheezeworts? Miravlix
Bunker Doors (Just below the vacuum biome, not in it, because they also need cooling) Glass tiles (To create rooms you can have GAS/Liquid in and have heat transfer) Solar Panels (Since it's a room you can cool them anyway you like now) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91429-solar-panels-overheating/#findComment-1041907 Share on other sites
SchlauFuchs
if the bunker doors need cooling and so need to be in touch with liquid or gas would that mean we will lose gas every time we open them? or can we flood the area between solar cells and bunker doors with water, assuming it lets light pass?
