FIXBUGFIXBUGFIX
First, let's review the range of pumps and other kind of buildings which work like a pump. Algae Terrarium. range=3 Carbon Skimmer. range=3 Deodorizer. range=3 Mini/Big Liquid/Gas pump. range=2 Wheezewort. range=1 Gulp Fish. range=3 Then let's learn more about how pump works. A pump will detect whether there is any element available in its detect range. The pump will try to absorb element from its absorb range. However, the amazing things is the detect range and the absorb range don't overlap completely! For example, the range of a big gas pump is 2. In the following photo, the red zone is the absorb range, and the blue is the detect range. This means, a pump doesn't need to contact with the liquid to be absorbed. Here are some simple and interesting structures. 1. magma pump, mini pump version The tile of water is in pump's detect range to cheat the pump to work. However, only a block of magma can be absorbed. In this way, the mini pump doesn't contact with magma directly. Though the pump still be heated because of its self heat generation and temporarily stored magma,it can works pretty long time before broken. 2. magma pump, big pump version I use naphtha to cheat the liquid pump. Because the naphtha will be absorbed by the pump, there is a filter and feed back. You can use some low power filter to replace the liquid filter, it doesn't matter. And you can replace the naphtha by some fresh and cold liquid to prevent the pump from overheat. 3. Vacuum gulp fish Polluted water stored in gulp fish will convert to PO2, so the gas pump is used to absorb PO2 and keep the poor fish in vacuum. The water emit by gulp fish is always 9C, so we can convert hot PW to cold water in this way. Yoma_Nosme
Awesome! Two thumbs up! Do you think the pumps could be cooled with radiant liquid pipes running some supercooled liquid oxygen behind them for example. Or maybe a railsystem with some cool plastic or diamond? 0xFADE
Impressive stuff. That also shows you are wasting some potential pump power if you have a wall on it's bottom or left side.

Not possible, but easy. The pipe can't transfer heat with pump directly because both of them are buildings, so you need some medium. If you choose gas as medium, it will diffuse so you can't keep vacuum. I suggest use liquid as medium. But liquid will be absorbed bu liquid pump, you have to filter the liquid later. I suggest you refer to big magma pump. 8 hours ago, 0xFADE said: if you have a wall on it's bottom or left side. In this case, the pump will try to absorb enough element from left 3 blocks, so no power is wasted.
Slvrsrfr
Important info. This would help LC, the one gas pump in the cellar would do better to have a mesh tile beneath it. If the top segment were oxygen then it would draw from the row of three and the one beneath it. That's good too(?) know. Thanks!
