10 things that i personally want to see in ONI as soon as possible

First of all forgive my for my bad English, i am trying as best as i can.

Second, my hardware is pretty old so my typical base is small, with population up to 8 Dupes. I actually prefer 5 because I that case I need only one Deoxidizer for stable oxygen supply. That`s why some of my usual problems may be irrelevant in a scope of larger bases.

Third, I think that presented ideas are interesting not because their implementation will make game easier, but because they add some variety, depth or interesting mechanics. Many of those just a concepts, I don`t consider any math or possibilities of game breaking results.

Settings for world size and content

Main problem here that is FPS drops when I began to explore world around starting biome. By the time I discover some Gas/Steam/Etc geysers and Oil reservoirs game runs with lags, with a noticeable freezes at beginning of every cycle.

Of course optimization can make wonders, but to have option for creating much smaller worlds would be nice anyway.

Larger/Modified versions of existing things

Sometimes size matters: Larger Compactors, Larger Batteries, Bunk beds (for 2 dupes at once), etc. Also Airtight Compactors (for slime, oxylite, bleach stone), Luxury Medical Bed, etc.

More Aquatic Lifeforms

Three thing I want to mention here include:

  • Corals - can be cultivated in Hydroponic farms. Atmosphere: 1000 kg Water/Polluted water, Fertilization: Polluted water, Produce: Algae.
  • Seaweed - aquatic plant... it`s a food can`t say much about.
  • Jellyfish - aquatic critter. Some of them can be pretty decorative, produce light or even electricity. Good if you have some sort of watertight container with transparent walls (like a glass Fishbowl).

Kitchen

We have Musher for “mush” and Grill for “fry”. Цhat about some other cooking stations like Oven for “bake”, Stove for “boil” and Freezer for “freeze”.

More Science Stations

I always wondering how duplicants can invent and build sophisticated Supercomputer (that is definitely high tech gear) right after building simple Research Station, there is definitely some missing links. Maybe retrotech like Arithmetic engine or room sized Electronic calculator. And sometimes you can find simple Computers in those ruins.

Frozen Lake Biome

This biome is huge chunk of frozen substances. Ice, Polluted ice, Liquid carbon dioxide and maybe small amount of other gases in liquid state, like Chlorine or even Hydrogen. This is literally “coolest” concept in entire list.

Long Lost Base Biome

Buried in sandstone several ruins-like rooms, filled with broken machines, exotic tech and some mysteries of forgotten past.

Consoles

Console Station allows duplicants to Operate linked machines that can be placed in hazardous environments remotely, currently this may include Oil Refinery and Oil Well (maybe Metal Refinery).

And some my personal suggestion.

Automation upgrade give us really interesting mechanics, but I hate what it done to power management. Right now I am talking about Smart battery, it make energy control easy and cheap – simple batteries need no more, they cost resources and lose charge over the time. Right now more profitable to store energy in raw resources (coal, natural gas) and control activity of generator by a single Smart Battery.

I think that Coal, Natural gal and Petroleum -generators can be disabled by automation, but to start over they must be operated manually, by duplicants.

In this case Console and remote operations looks double handy.

Window to space

This is like geyser that periodically produces and absorbs heat.

Assume that asteroid rotates around some star, so when the light hits window temperature rises, and when window turned to empty space it cools.

With a proper setup and well timed automation this thing allows to heat/cool large amount of substances.

Wireless Energy Transmission

I often dream about this thing when I need to power far away pump or deoxidizer. Usually in this case only 2 variants available: build a very long wire (which cost a tons of metal and cycles of time) or build Manual Generator and Battery (which is annoying because duplicants must travel there several times in one cycle).

This is definitely high end technology that can cost a lot, but in some situations it can save time and resources.

I think an Ocean Biome would be pretty cool.  Corals could provide medicinal value, seaweed could be used to make food, saltwater distillers could create clean water and salt, which in turn has quite a few practical uses, etc.

Sadly until they make optimizations too the world, more biomes won't be a thing and reducing the biomes currently could be hard on end game.
But I do wanna see new biomes including an ocean biome. A new liquid salted h2o. 

You can make your own biome, is isnt exactly an easy thing to do though, it also doesnt really hamper performance, but unfortunately the OP does not have the best of computers. The same goes with shrinking the map, this can be done but I am not sure how much of a performance gain it would give.

Hope I will not be wrong BUT, we are talking about Klei and in the DS series you have options for all the things in the game (animals, resources, how big is the map, etc.), so at some point they will also implement these options here. And if they put all things in beta now (because we do not have patience), what surprises are there for the launch day?
PS: Ocean Biome in a meteorite ... funny :)
