A few questions

Recommended Posts

1) How Does Oil well work? Like the pump, need to be submerged in oil? Or some other way? I just digging to oil and it is very hot there.

2) What use of Steam geyser emitting 31G/sec at 500C? It seems very little water, admittedly at very high temperature? I found it inactive in Ice biom, will become active in 3 cycles. Should I just entomb and forget it? Amount of water seems useless.

The well CAN be submerged, but basically it pulls oil out of the well into the local area.  You can in theory drain it down to an oil reserve as well if you wanted, then pump it out from there.  It's a lot of water to pump oil, though.  If you're just starting with it I recommend finding a local pool in the biome as they're usually overpressurized and start there.  You don't need all the excess infrastructure just to make petrol.

That steam geyser is basically useless.  Strap it down with a bunch of abyssilite and forget it exists.  RNG strikes again.

You mean I do not need Oil well to extract Oil from the local pool? Can I just stick pump inside? I am a bit confused.

You build the Oil Well structure on top of the natural Oil Resevoir world object.  It will take clean Water from a pipe input, and will emit Crude Oil.  You will then need a Liquid Pump to suck it up into pipes for use in the Oil Refinery.

As for your Hot Steam Geyser...  They are not very useful.  In theory the heat they produce can be used for a Steam Generator, but the problem is that they produce so small a mass that it doesn't work all that well.
