FenrirZeroZero
This Game screams for an Blueprint System where we can save and reuse our clever designs. How should it work? Mark an rectangular area to save -> Save the Blueprint on the file system (for easy sharing and transferability to other saves) To load the blueprint select it from a Blueprint list What should it save? For the Basics: Simple the Position and orientation of the buildings/wires etc Fancy: Save the material type or make it selectable (like the multi Ressource machines) Fancyer: Save the settings (Priorities, filter, timer and logik settings etc.) For the question regarding of not researched parts in the recipe: Blueprint is selectable but not placeable (so you can plan how much space you need) One Game that you can look for this principle is Factorio. The Blueprint management is really good and works even with mods (modded blueprints "work" even without mods. They just don't show and place the mod items in vanilla) This System could benefit the game quite a lot (especially for the logik circuits...) and if i have seen correctly, something on the line is already implemented in the debug mode. (You can select and copy areas) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89687-building-blueprint/ Share on other sites
Oozinator
Was suggested before. Exists still in debug. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89687-building-blueprint/#findComment-1025151 Share on other sites
Kazumiya
Hum even though it would be nice, the building time stay the same... Dupes take way more time to build what you want than you to draw the patern of your builds... FenrirZeroZero
For simple builds... yes. But it would help tremendulsy with automation stuff. (I printed me some schemas for 1-byte buffer cells and other stuff...) TG pro
it would also help if I can save it and use it in other colony, especially if you want to build a debug base Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89687-building-blueprint/#findComment-1025459 Share on other sites
SharraShimada
Yes there is copy and paste feature in the debug-system. But it just pastes everything into the world. Blueprints should be designed to be placed as a construction-order, rather than a finished placement. So you can design the "perfect" room, save it, and later (perhaps in another game) you can place the blueprint, and the dupes start working on it. No need to tinker around, forget a pipe here, place too many wires there... just plain and simple a copy of a previous working system. I have found it only a few days after I posted it, but still, it would be useful in normal mode Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89687-building-blueprint/#findComment-1042248 Share on other sites
