We need a pressure door so that locations with different pressure can be safely traversed without fear of contamination.

Should occupy 2x2 area where duplicant enters in one side and both left and right door closes. Then the other side opens and lets the duplicant out to the other room.

This is for ease of use and i do know other (rather elaborate and complicated) method to do the same functionality

You can do this with automation. Heres an example

It doesnt matter which way the dupe goes, as it doesnt where the weight plate is. Only the timing on the filter gates. This can be done in a better looking, more compact way, of course.

Say you have a 20KG gas filled room on one side and a 500g filled room on the other side. A lot of gas from the 20kg room will transfer over to the 500mg room.

Also, if there are many duplicants traversing between 2 rooms, its inevitable this setup fails. Say one duplicant in in the middle doors, and another duplicant arrives in the entrance. You'll immediately have a scenario where all 4 doors are open for some seconds.

Hence the need for a dedicated single pressure door still stands my friend!

Perhaps what we need is not another door, but something that fills the inside 'airlock' space and properly dose the job of keeping the gas on both sides from mixing either by excluding it or ejecting it back the way it came.  Players can then create an airlock out of either the manual or automatic door and the size of the airlock can be determined by the player.

Low traffic solution ;)

Sure, but you probably don't need a high traffic when in a 20 KG gas pressure room (your traffic will be limited by exosuit too)

I use it for separate heat and gas from two different room at normal pressure without gas sensor pressure and no check point, and never have trouble of traffic, and you can extand the traffic by set up the pressure sensor if you have one room with 20 Kg pressure and another at 500g you just need to reach 400g pressure inside the airlock to open it without high pressure gas go through

But if the room overpressure is below 75 °C, you could build that and use it to make a transit tube to allow more traffic

Edit: You can also made a two waterlock with vaccum space between them, in function of what liquid you choose you can have high or low temperature (but i don't like that cause maybe someday dev add the perfect gas law so you can have liquid form at high temperature with high pressure

While many kinds of airlock designs have been created the problem is that the liquid lock is basically the simplest and best one and obsoletes basically everything else.  If the game allowed some kind of gas diffusion through liquid then the liquid lock would be dethroned and we would have a reason to use other more complex locks or even an all in one building as the OP suggests.

Not only, if they add the perfect gas thermodynamic law, i will be useless cause in real world when pressure go down liquid going to gas and solid just after that

Well they should remake the doors anyway, because they are useless except for making rooms... At least making one LEAKING PROOF ! Invented airlocks are made only because there are no 100% other way to prevent gaz leaking in the base game....

But i think it's the most interesting part of the game to invent something you need but don't exist
