Does heat really matter?

Recommended Posts

This one is more of a philosophical question than a regular one :D

Here is my base:

Refrigerators are in a vacuum, and berry farm is at ~10-20 degrees (surrounded by abyssalite tiles),

The question is will there be a "heat death" when you isolate the berry farm/refrigerators?

Does heat really matter at this stage?

I guess if it doesn't we can just put electrolyzers at the bottom of the base and not worry about the heat.

Yeah, try a colony with 20 dupes! that is more fun since their needs will make you improvise. I have 3 electrolizers and it makes even ammount of oxygen.

But its a nice base, very organized. Although its a lot of berries for only 9 dupes. I mean, it's A LOT.

you can get away with a lot on easy settings. Play on hardest difficulty, and every aspect of the game becomes important :)

I don't play custom settings, it's just the regular default settings.

The question still remains, is it really important to cool the whole base? or cooling is only needed for food production/storage?

@Neotuck how does it affect stress?

@FullMetalArthur food source usually stays at 80-100k calories, it's not really that much considering power down time & harvest delays.

If your base is too hot your dupes gets "toasty surroundings"  +10% stress per cycle

If your base is too cold your dupes gets "chilly surroundings"  +10% stress per cycle

Fair enough, and what exactly are those?

I mean at what temperature its toasty or chilly?

they are debuffs, you can spot them when they show the blue or red thermometers

you can check thermal comfort zone with the thermal comfort overlay red is hot, blue is cold, grey is comfortable for your dupes

I'm not too sure, it's listed on the Wiki here:

but the info might be outdated
