The priority system is BROKEN in the latest ranching update...

Recommended Posts

So I have a gas pump pumping co2 from my power area to my food storage area to fill it. I set the pump to disabled and no dupe goes near it. I set priority 9, still no dupe goes near it. I check operate job, normal priority. All jobs are normal priority. I manually move a dupe down to the pump and they run away from it. I disable all jobs on the dupe except operate and they still run away. It took me building a door across the ladder and blocking access for the stupid dupe to finally realize oh hey they should turn off the pump.

On the live build, setting priority 9 would have a dupe go down there asap...

Fix this garbage....

It isnt broken, If a dupe has a job, they will do the jobs orders first, and completely ignore anything else, even priority 9. For instance if there is a miner, and a dig job is avalable he will always go and do that before going to sweep, build etc.

So Priorities now work JOBS -> Highest priority 9, 8, 7... 1, High Priority 9, 8, 7... 1, Normal Priority, 9, 8, 7... 1, Low Priority 9, 8, 7... 1, and then No Priority meaning they will never do the job. If you only have a few dupes in the beginning it can seem slow, but once you get your head around it it goes really fast, I now get more done in the same amount of time than I used to.

Storage i a bit bizarre at the moment @Ambaire, If you have a compactor set to sweep only they will put only sweep items in there, but they will also put sweep items in compactors that do not have it ticked. Since they are for all objects, not just sweep only. If you want a sweep task done, set the sweep only storage compactor at a higher priority, and the sweep task at a higher priority, hopefully they will do it. But again, only if the dupes dont have their jobs to do first, I.E Miner needs to dig, researcher needs to study etc.

If you go into the jobs menu you can disable this on the top right, or manually disable it by right clicking on the wrenches.

Wouldnt disabling a building be a Change Setting errand, which falls under the Tidy job? ._.

I honestly don't know how to answer that, my dupes just seem to be idiots but It could be Tidy or Operate best way to find out is flip the switch and see who comes.
