PhailRaptor
Just a general thought about the whole crashing portion of this discussion. We already know from other tests that have been run multiple times that one of the biggest resource hogs in the game is pathfinding. Now with the Ranching job and Creature caretaking allowing us to make as many of every creature as we want, it is constituting a massive increase in load on the already problematic pathfinging issue. Where the game used to keep track of only 5 to 10 Hatches, since they only spawn in the starter biome, it now has to deal with as many as you decide to breed. It's even worse with Shinebugs and Pufts, because they are airborne, giving them a much larger valid pathing area. So now that people are remarking about having 100 or more Slicksters.... throw in all the Dupes in the base, all the Hatches, all the Shinebugs, all the Pufts, all the Morbs.... Yeah. Not that surprising we're seeing game crashes. Saturnus
13 minutes ago, trukogre said: I think that "they were too good and needed a drastic nerf" is probably not an unpopular opinion. I definitely think they needed a nerf. Cutting output by 99% isn't a nerf, nor is it a drastic nerf, it's a Texas chainsaw massacre. But slicksters are still OP, now they're just OP egglayers. Klei just has to dial up the co2 throughput a tad, so they're only nerfed 95% instad of 99%, and dial back the egglaying and crashing of these creatures by a bit, and they'll be right in the sweet spot, imo. We pretty much all seem to see it, so why didn't Klei? The fault lies in the mass to kcal assumption of 1kg mass of raw materials equalling 4000kcal for critters whereas dupes need to process about 60kg mass of raw materials per 1000kcal. It's fine that critters are better at converting raw materials into food than dupes. But 240 times better? That's just insane. BlueLance
I admit I am happy with the nerf rate, but I wouldn't mind it being reigned in a bit, I have 6 hatches, and my game sometimes crashes when they get to 100% reproduction, or they lay the egg, one or the other. Personally reducing the egg spawn rate and upping their consumption rate seems good, or at least like Saturnus mentioned, changing it to some degree, because eggs are easy to get, they are a 2 on the meal table, and have a tonne of calories and if you use pufts or slicksters you are literally using two resources which are difficult to run out of (Assuming you dont feed your hatches everything under the sun, i only feed them (the FINEST POOP) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/88536-do-slicksters-consume-less-co2s-in-rancher-patch/page/2/#findComment-1014141 Share on other sites
