on leveling Strength and Athletics.

The latest Occupation Upgrade preview build sees a return of both stat increases and the Strength stat.  Strength and Athletics are vitally important stats that impact every dupe's ability to do their job in a timely and efficient manner, and thus are highly prized stats to every colony overseer.  The leveling of these stats can somewhat trivialize some of the challenges the game has to offer, and so these increases shouldn't be awarded too freely, in my opinion.

That's why I'm proposing exercise equipment.  I think leveling Strength and Athletics via day-to-day work should be a slow process.  If an overseer is willing to sacrifice some downtime now for faster gains in these stats he or she could assign a dupe to a Weight Bench to boost Strength or a Treadmill to boost Athletics at a quicker pace than normal (the aforementioned exercise equipment is just an example, the devs could ONI-fy them in whatever way they feel is thematic). 

These machines could also be placed on low priority so that dupes use them during their downtime if they finish their work for the day before it's time to hit the sack.  Or if schedules are ever implemented we could block out time for our dupes to exercise.  They could even add a new room type (Gymnasium) to boost the speed at which dupes gain the stat increases if they wanted.

I quite like the idea of training rooms for stats, you could the. Have a gymnasium for some, library for others, though I have seen a good idea for training schools where an experienced dupe can train otters in a skill suggested in another post. So sacrifice some productivity to train others in a skill. Makes sense for specialised skills like tinkering, cooking etc but would still require the gym for the physical skills.
