kituneki
its just an idea at present but since the Tesla trees are still practically coded in the game, just not in the game yet but what if that they drop Tesla coils/branchs, they can be made into your very own Tesla coil turret would be powerful but expensive to make. the coils would be a rare drop not sure about the artificial trees being replenish able, but to make the coils im thinking maybe 3 coils 2 gears, maybe 10 transistors, 5 cut stones and a yellow gem it could still be the home and breeding grounds of the volt goats and maybe even the slips and slipstors, slips can merge with other slips to form the slipstors which can be like mini bosses like the spider queen, as for the biome, it would be more like the ruined assembly that you find in the ruins where all the destroyed chess pieces are back to the trees, unlike the houndius shootus the tesla coils need to be recharged, one can use the light bulbs but it would only recharge it to say..i dunno 5 or 8% of its maximum charge while a transistor could recharge it to say 50% the coils could be upgraded to 3 levels and would require the Tesla branches, of course something as strong as that would have some cons to it, if it was to be put into the normal DS taking it to ship wrecked you would run the problems of the wet season where if you arnt insulated getting too close to it would electrocute you or cause an electric field around, same can be said if you are wet in the ROG maps touching it would electrocute you if you are wet, as for the biome itself the derelict power plant or fortress of thunder which would have its own unique set piece and possibly an artificial giant that guards its own set of treasures, the giant in question would be active during full moons or maybe a new event called a solar eclipse, just spit balling ideas here but the idea has merit i think, plus with new terrain it arises a new opportunity for new mobs, mechanics, bosses and maybe even followers, looking at some of the old sprite models the slips look like they could be made into a follower, i wouldnt say no to a slipstor pet, let me know what you all think Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87039-reimplemented-use-for-the-tesla-trees/ Share on other sites
Thieverpedia
Sounds like a good idea, bar the yellow gem being available from them, unless they're an ultra-rare drop. As some friendly, when making a thread, you can hit the Enter key to separate sections and make it a little cleaner and pleasing to the eye. Cheers! <3 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87039-reimplemented-use-for-the-tesla-trees/#findComment-1001112 Share on other sites

Cheers! <3 thanks for that, ill keep it in mind for next time, just going through the old wiki page there was alot of stuff that does show promise, with the tesla coil turret being a very powerful defensive item you want it to be reasonable for its strength so even if it will be super strong you will want it to come with a price and certain cons personally having such a turret would be interesting to deal with in spring when it is always wet out and if you arnt insulated you touching the coil is about the same as getting hit by lightning but anyway ill try cleaning it up now, reason for the yellow gem though is that unless your super lucky in getting it from the tumble weeds you will have to go to the ruins to get a gem, here is a thought though, maybe as part of the theme maybe a thunder hammer, works just like a hammer but can be used as a weapon it would be one of the guaranteed prizes from beating the factory giant (fortress) the thunder hammer would deal extra damage to clockwork enemies Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87039-reimplemented-use-for-the-tesla-trees/#findComment-1001139 Share on other sites

kituneki
haha not quite red alert, tesla coils have been a mainstay in most science fiction settings, if you ever seen sky captain and the world of tommrow 2 was side by side each other outside doctor tutonkopfs study room so, it works well for traps, but still with how strong such a turret would be, its more wondering how to implement it so no one can gain access to such a really strong weapon that you cant get early, so yo cant mass produce them, QED balancing it On 20/02/2018 at 10:42 AM, NeddoFreddo said: Soviet Union in Don't Starve? please someone get that reference Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/87039-reimplemented-use-for-the-tesla-trees/#findComment-1010028 Share on other sites
