Building pipes/wires being walls

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just tried to build pipes behind the tiles of my water reservoir, tiles that I built

myself out Sandstone.  To my surprise, I caused a major flood everywhere, my

dupes deconstructed the tiles before building the pipes!  So I rebuilt them all and

started repumping the water in.  When I was done, I now passed electric wires

behind the tiles, and the exact same thing happened, major flood!

I could swear I've done that a million times, and they usually just build the pipes

or wires behind the tiles without deconstructing them.. Am I going crazy, or am

I missing something?  Or did I hit a bug?

Thanks

Unfortunately I started over without saving, assuming it was a bug with the save..

I like to start over every 5 minutes anyway XD

But there was nothing special about it, just a standard U shaped container, kinda like this:

X                                        X

X                                        X

X                                        X

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Every tile was a built Sandstone tile, I tried to build the pipes behind the bottom and left walls,

and each single tile got deconstructed, leading to major floodage.  Same thing with wires later on.

I have encountered this before.  It appears to occur very inconsistently.  Most of the time, Dupes will build Wires or Pipes behind Tiles just fine with no problems.  Very rarely, they will instead deconstruct the Tiles in order to build the Pipe or Wire.

Yep, I too have experienced this, luckily it wasn't on a water tank.  First time I thought I'd messed something up, but after seeing it again I'm sure it's just a very intermittent bug.  In thinking about it, I may have only seen it happen with sandstone too - though not 100% on that - it feels like I've only seen it in early game.
