Little Oxygen generator

Recommended Posts

You see gases act in 2 ways inside a pipe:

If both coming to a gas tile are oxygen or both hydrogen they will add up,

If one is oxygen, and one hydrogen, it'll make the second gas wait, so it'll make a bottleneck.

Filtering then adding is the best choice.

This one requires no filter and will provide steady supply of oxygen at 19C for about 5 dupes, also my base has been running for over 200 cycles of of the hydrogen produces in these and the entire system needs only 360w at its peak,
note: the air pump below the wheezworts is not needed I am using it only to pump air to my exosuits, also I'm pretty sure I could make it more compact

Thanks for sharing, how does that work?

It's an old design where the electrolyzer is sunk into water to avoid "max pressure" notification and work 100% of the time. Also its automatically filtering the hydrogen and oxygen thru the airflow tiles (don't really know how this works) and hydrogen gets built up in the left room, the pump is active only if hydrogen is over 2000g, so the wheezies are always in the hydrogen cooling their surroundings and through metal tiles and tempshift plates it's cooling the produced oxygen. Also the electrolyzer works only if pressure is under 3000 and temperature under 19, with 4 wheezies I was getting too much oxygen and the electrolyzer would briefly stop working, making the wheezworts cool the oxygen more than wanted, that's why I reduced it to 3.

If you look your pumps are not pumping 500g packets all the time.

Try this if you like.

Make the pipes coming from the the pumps a little longer so u have a buffer. As long as the pumps are pumping you are not losing any gas. 1 filter is no bottleneck it will just process bigger packets maybe try a pipe bridge. I am 100% positive it works just uses less power since u filter 1000g packs most of the time with only 1 filter

Edit: to clarify. If the small packs have to wait a little while merging with the other pumps output they will merge inside their own pipe too

That would still bottleneck a little bit, this generates more oxygen.

When you are happy with it. ^^

Eventually there will be a huge hydrogen buildup and we'll end up with something like this:

62kg of hydrogen :D

(Thanks to Lifegrow for demonstrating this in his videos)

that'll be enough to run an entire colony using hydrogen :D

I thought he was one of the last "good boy bro buds", sailing with his cheat free rift, through the dark exploity oceans.
That makes me sad. :(

10 entire bases. Hydro gens are cool, i like to use them, more then NG plants. Hydro should ignite, when overpressurized/overheated.
Smart batterys for the win :)

This shouldnt be a cheat really, I mean what was I suppose to do with like 100kgs of hydrogen?

Theoretically it's not needed, to store things, for pure mass storage. Most things could be easy balanced out, like JIT(just in time).
Limitations exists and are dupe numbers, for example (oxygen usage/electrolyzer amount/ O² output.

But yes, hoarding is part of human nature and it starts always with "one tiny thing" :)

Yet another little oxygen generator (no cooling):

In my recent base I decided that I don't really need much cooling for the base -- does heat really matter? (except for agriculture area + refrigerators), so I came up with this:

Overview:

Power:

Gas piping:

20180331235919_1.thumb.jpg.b2aa90b92083e2f130169a5ef8d60f56.jpg

It runs 24/7 without a problem.

I know I should add couple of atmo sensors + wheezeworts in there, but I don't really feel the need right now.

look dead center of my screen, see that bridge?  its an automated bypass

image.thumb.png.affca9e570e776bd7ec920b007cf1150.png

the one on the hydrogen line

image.thumb.png.f34b9dd5ae6859019df6aebc31daff1f.png

these are buffer loops and if the system backs up with too much it overflows down that lefthand pipe to the overflow area. (weezie cooling tower in my case)

Mine is currently supporting 12 dupes (10 if none have diver's lungs) and produces a steady 605kg/cycle of oxygen at a perfect 19c.

Spoiler

Oh.. AND it produces more power than it uses, so my base currently runs mostly off hydrogen power.  Coal generators kick in if there's a high load, but otherwise its exclusively hydrogen.

Interesting, can it be made with just 1 bridge? or 2 bridges must be used?

need one bridge setting direction but the bridge feeding across, its the main flow, when it backs all the way up its flow on past auto, in theory just having your one bridge going to something, then from bridge intake, pull off your bypass.  As long as flow direction is controlled, 1 is all you need. image.thumb.png.2d183bcfdf85e6d65f91c48e20312cd1.png
