Automatic620
So I cant seem to get my water from the geyser to get below 100 degrees. Any help would be great. I attached my save file. I tried the tempshift plates but wasn't sure what material to make them out of. THANKS BEST ONE.sav
FIXBUGFIXBUGFIX
Not sure why you want to cool your geyser below 100 °F, but I can answer your question about tempshift plates Tempshift plates accelerate the heat transfer within 3*3 tiles. Build them in red zone. Material with high thermal conductivity (diamond and refined metal) will be beneficial.
vonVile
Fill the water next to your Steam Geyser with Storage (3 will do) on a Liquid Mesh Tile and fill them completely with Ice. The Ice will slowly cool that water as long as you don't keep the Steam Geyser always active. Be sure to build a wall to keep the water in when the Ice decides to melt. Another thing that people don't think about is that smaller is better. Don't make huge tanks because it takes longer to cool all the water. Here's all that I use. Its completely built from Abyssilite from the Ice Biome and I put 2 Shiftplates behind the Liquid Pump, so it doesn't generate heat when it pumps. In my next build I plan to make it smaller only using 4 Wheezeworts. Here's my Steam Geyser. When you find a Steam Geyser you immediately have to start cooling it before it rises to 100F. Its good that you cap your Geyser if you are not using it, because if its always active the water its creates temperature will keep rising. Also having your water rise over the Geyser will stop it from producing more water.
Automatic620
Thanks I will give it a shot, wanted it to cool outside the base so It wont heat up by base by having a tank of 100 degree water. Also thanks about capping them, didn't know about that.
Kabrute
They drop P-Ice if the building is below -

Fair enough, even if we don't mine and keep dupes in their starting box with o2 etc, wouldn't the heat from the surrounding biomes creep from the unmined surroundings? Just wondering, or does this only happen when you start mining out the wall and see the temperature differential, yet still being inside the starting biome.
