Dirmagnos
Is it by design or is it a bug ? If i build artificial tiles or wires over natural ones, then i get all the materials from those tiles, but if i build any artificial tiles or wires over other artificial ones, then all the materials from previous tiles seem to just disappear into thin air. If i remember it right, then at some point in the past, when dupes were replacing tiles/wires, then they either deconstructed old ones first, or just build new ones and materials from old ones just dropped off upon completion. Lifegrow
I'm not 100% but I don't think you ever got the resources back from over-writing tiles, you always had to deconstruct first if you wanted the mats back.
BlueLance
I think its a bit iffy, I know with the top of my base I replaced all the tiles with abysallite and the original tile fell down into my liquid tanks.... It irked me because I thought the parts would disappear. Maybe its buggy? Because I have noticed most times I get nothing and this was the only time I paid attention and noticed it since it got into my clean tanks. mickaux
Rebuilding something within one tile space does indeed seem buggy - same thing happens to liquid from the pipes, if you deconstruct them, liquid dribbles, unless you deconstruct a pipe 'inside' a tile - then it disappears... Also, I remember that few updates ago tiles could contain burried objects (it drove my perfectionist soul crazy, when gas or mesh tiles contained some debris ). Maybe there's some similar mechanic between those two issues.
Dirmagnos
I just find it counterproductive, considering rather low intelligence of dupes in general, to have to make it 2-step process, instead of just replacing old wiring with new one and salvaging materials from old one, now i have to first deconstruct old and only then build new. As it gets even more convoluted when i need to redesign several types of constructions, like piping and wiring in any given area. Maybe reduce returns to 50% or 75% of original cost, but at least remove this completely unnecessary micro-micromanagement part.
MidnightSteam
Yes, in past upgrades some tiles gave you resources back while others did not. With this upgrade, however, nothing is given back. Seems to be by design; one that I don't like.
TheGCat
Yes, it's really annoying. Also, u can't replace the normal ladders with plastic ones (Devs knows it, but they aren't interested to fix it). The same with the high voltage power cable. Not possible to overbuild it. That is annoying. That is the part of the game, where I think: "Why I am playing this. It's just wasted time. No fun, no experience, just annoying." The problem with big bases is that i can personally not play in fast forward. It tooks ages to do something like build or deconstruct. I play with 12 FPS on normal Speed. Not funny!
