frogglebunwich
The screenshot speaks for itself, there is a block above a ladder with gold amalgam and a buried object, high on the map, cannot dig it or any other blocks around it in order to breach into the cavity above. Is this the edge of the playable area or something, if so I need to rethink my water sourcing plans as I was planning on going up and up and up ? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1200217980 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/84161-why-is-dig-unreachable-directly-above-ladder-head/ Share on other sites
NanoD
They cant get to the left laddar. you have to dig a tile above on the right ladder or build one more step on the left ladder. TayDex
A duplicant is two tiles high... Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/84161-why-is-dig-unreachable-directly-above-ladder-head/#findComment-974037 Share on other sites
frogglebunwich
Yes true but they can jump two tiles so they ought to be able to get within one tile of the two tile ladder and jump to it. I think this is technically a pathfinding bug. I might wait for a few more examples to be sure of making a report. NanoD
Nah it is not a bug Because they cant climb up to last step of the ladder. And they cant jump 2 stepps side ways and one step up. Queron81
But in the picture it is one step sideways and 2 steps up. But maybe they can only jump to the top of a field, but there wouldn't be enough space to stand for the dupe, so the pathfinder says no. Or they can't jump to the bottom of a ladder end, so there wouldn't be enough space to jump through: Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/84161-why-is-dig-unreachable-directly-above-ladder-head/#findComment-975257 Share on other sites
Cattrina
The duplicants cannot climb to the top of the ladder on the right, thus stepping left would result them stepping in thin air. A dupe needs one empty block or another ladder over the one they are standing, or they cannot stand...and thus cannot move. Add a ladder to left (below) or dig the block over the right ladder (above).
