Beefalos, Koalefants and the need for Cave Transportation

Recommended Posts

SurfaceBeefalos. They're an essential means of transportation on the surface, and there are a variety of different tendencies a Beefalo could possess. Now, this variety is great and appeals to different play-styles, however, I think adding a variety of tameable mobs would be even more appealing. Each one could have individual benefits and drawbacks: ridable Koalefants could have an increased speed, maybe an ability utilizing their trunks to stun nearby enemies (similar to a Beefalo horn, but the Koalefant lets out a call and the sound disorients surrounding mobs) with the tradeoff being lesser health than the Beefalo. Also, a tameable Ewecus could be cool too, it would have ranged snot attacks but a slower speed. As for new utility for tamed mobs, maybe we could get a new slot for them. I'm proposing a new slot that could be used for extra storage (bags or pouches strapped to the side of the tamed companion) or armor.

Caves: I would appreciate some form of ridable mob that resides in the caves. Maybe a salamander, bear, cave cricket, centipede or beetle.

These are things I thought might improve the diversity of the game, I would like to hear some ideas you may have about this. Thank you for reading, folks.

honestly  don't know if i want to use mounts in caves. Caves are dangerous so your mount will almost 100% die after dismounting. We already have giant tentacles and lasy deserters, also you can build cobblestone road anywhere you want

But i always for new content, if devs will add mounts to the caves, i'm for it

Yeah, it would take away from the danger that is the caves.

"Essential means of transportation"... what?

Most people tame a beefalo for exactly how long it takes to move the marble pieces and then butcher it because it's a waste of time and resources to maintain past that point.

Well I personally prefer surrounding it with a fence and then setting the fence on fire, but to each his own.

I'm just gonna add to what was said before saying they are far from essential and generally a waste of time.

I think maybe make the current tameable mob not an utter waste of time to tame, then think about adding other tameable mobs.

Currently some mods allow for beefalos to go into caves, maybe try those? It just really doesn't make sense for the devs to add more tameable mobs when the current tameable mob is in such a bad spot.

Agreed. Beefalos need a revamp, they are handy when trying to go across the map but they have no utility otherwise.
