Slimelung not dying in extreme cold temperature?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to liquefy some polluted oxygen to kill off the slimelung disease. However, the germs are dying much slower than the stated rate even at -180°C liquid state. The status said I should expect them to see them dropping in half every 11 seconds, but their numbers are either staying steady or decreasing much slower than expected. I've stopped pumping in additional polluted oxygen just to make sure I am not introducing more germs into the system. A full cycle went by and the total germ number barely changed. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

In general I am having a hard time killing off airborne slimelung. I have tried heating it, freezing it, cleaning the oxygen it's in, pumping slimelung infected air into chlorine and dumping chlorine into it. It dies yes, but way too slowly no matter what I do to it and it's numbers keep climbing back up after they fall which is a real nuisance in a game where you're essentially racing the clock to get properly set up before your resources run out. It's too resilient. I have one chamber in my game where there was a minor slimelung infestation. I got in there, installed some deodorizers and an algae oxidizer and the numbers actually went UP. From 5k in each infected air tile to 20! I thought it wasn't supposed to like clean air?! 6 cycles later, the oxygen in there is at full pressure AND clean and all of it still isn't dead. What the heck?

There certainly are bugs with some combined germ die-offs. For example, overpopulated slimelung germs on solids ignore the solid part (-13%/cycle) and only die out at overpopulation speed (which can drop to near-0 rate if the overpopulation is minimal). You can see it in clay and algae tiles near slime, even after you dig the slime out.

So in your case it might be the oxygen die-off taking precendence over temperature die-off. Try not liquefying the pO2 next time - it should die faster when it's still polluted and just very cold.

killing sline lung ore is easy, just put under PW ay -5C.

Killing slimelung in PO2 is much harder and best to avoid.

Interesting observation, so I should just pump the PO2 into a Puft room and process the slime with a few ore scrubber.

yes.  I tend to just avoid PO2 but if you want, puffs are best option.  Send the slime to the under water cold storage for a few cycles and then convert to algae or farm it etc
