Copypaste Bases and Creatures and More!

Recommended Posts

The outbreak update includes an update to the debug interface which allows you to copy and save areas as a template YAML. This makes it possible to duplicate base layouts, mobs, and more, as well as delete unwanted entities you otherwise can't remove (*cough* like problematic dupes *cough*)

If you have debug enabled (You can read more on how to do that here) you can use this to do, well... a lot of things.

There are a few things to note before pasting anything though:

  • anything pasted over will be deleted. This includes dupes. Make sure dupes are far away from areas you are spawning templates in.
  • pasting templates that overlap can cause glitches and sometimes will even crash the game.
  • certain objects (pincha-plants, printing-pods, steel ladders) will not work properly when spawned this way.

If you want to play around with some of the template YAML files I made, I have a few here I've uploaded that you can try out (and feel free to post your own):

dupesbane.yaml  deletes problematic dupes

L-O.yaml spawns 2 light bugs in a 2x2 oxygen square

mealwood_4.yaml creates 4 mealwood plants

morb.yaml creates a morb in a 2x4 area

puft_2.yaml creates a bunch of pufts and some slime

steamgeyser.yaml creates a steam geyser

Two new starting base layouts to put in your game. Just go to the templates/bases folder and replace the startingBase.yaml with one of these files (make sure you rename the replacement "startingBase", otherwise it won't work)

startingBase2.yaml includes a storage compactor along with the ration box

startingBase3.yaml includes beds and extra oxylite

^what the base 3 layout looks like when implemented in worldgen

Here is a video guide I made of setting up and using debug mode with the outbreak updates. I've also attached a nat gas powerplant template and some other templates.

box-water-10x10.yaml

box-10x10.yaml

box-10x10-polluted-water.yaml

powerplant-large.yaml
