Generators wasting resources

Recommended Posts

It gives a purpose to the power wasted stat in the daily report. There's a mini challenge in balancing power generation, consumers and batteries if you want to aim for zero power wasted. There's so much coal and hydrogen in the map I don't really worry about it.

FYI 500kg (a single load) of coal can almost fill 8 batteries if it has no consumers. Working from there you can start adding consumers and trying to keep batteries stable but not maxed out.

As all generators (sans wheel) have an internal fuel reserve it would be nice for the gas based generators to shut down taking in more fuel (as the coal one does) when the threshold set by the slider is met and continue to use up the reserve in the internal storage. Should the threshold no longer been met, while the generator is still running on internal reserve, the shutoff valve would open again - but in case the battery level stays above the threshold the generator would come to a halt when the reserve runs out and restarting it from that state could well need a duplicant pressing a switch / opening the shutoff valve manually to balance the added intelligence on the intake part...

It would be amazing! But I have so many batteries that they are never full so I dont have much of an issue at the moment.
