ScardyBob
As the title says. Or at least allow us to change the default priority to whatever we want it to be. I find myself using only half of the priority scale (5-9) because it gets tedious having to change dozens to hundreds of things to lower than 5 priority. BlueLance
If you had it set to 1, then if you decided something didnt need done till later you would have to put everything to 2 so that everything else gets done first? I do agree though 5 6 7 and 9...9 makes it seem urgent but 8 woukd do
AlexRou
I think they should rework the priority system. So instead of 9 levels, have a "do it now", "general tasks" and "whenever" queues. "do it now" would be as it says, drop what you're doing and do it now. "general tasks" would be a queue of general tasks to do. "whenever" are those things to do when there's nothing better to do. The queues also allows task grouping (so the whole group has a queue position instead of each order) and manual sorting/reordering. Of course this wouldn't make much sense without a nice drag and drop UI and clicking on a task highlights the orders in the game world. Maybe even support moving tasks between queues. So what happens when you have a build tile order on a undug area and the next item is the dig order? If it can't get to the current task then it should move on to the next task in the group or queue until it is possible to do that task. Basically look something like this
Kasuha
Default priority 1 is a bad idea. Priorities below 5 are useful for prioritizing your storage compactors - dupes won't go store things in them right away but when you mark something for sweeping, they select the compactor by its priority. And priority 1 is useful for things to get dupes gathered at high decor safe areas when they have nothing else to do, such as a 1% massage table or a pointless hamster wheel. I almost don't use priorities to plan what my dupes should do - most of the time I lay it down all at priority 5. But I have already built things organized by priorities. Whenever there is something they should do before doing what I planned for them, it has priority above 5 set up. Massage tables, deodorizers, compost, or even storage compactors for bleach stone and slime which I don't want my dupes to leave on the ground. Maybe the compromise is to provide an option to allow each player to set the default priority. Personally, I like to set everything to 1 and then adjust accordingly to my desired priorities (1-4 = doors, storage, art; 5-6 compost, filterable/algae stuff, 7 = food/power, 8 reserved for manual control). suicide commando
Having the ability to set the 'default' priority level' somewhere would be nice. And probably the best UI improvement overall than just arbitrarily changing it to some random number. Because whatever number they pick, some people prefer a different one.
