MythN7
Something I just noticed is no matter what temp the water goes into a air scrubber or water purfier, it seems to come out the other side at 40 deg. I have a piping system created so that all water drops into a pit besdie the ice biome so that it can cool off before going anywhere in my base, so the water going in my scrubber at the time of checking this was 16-18 deg, and it came out as polluted water every time at 40 deg. The water going in my shower was the same 16-18 temp, split from the same source as the scrubber, the dirty water came out around the same temp, mabye a bit warmer, but less than a single degree, and was again, going in the water purifier at less than 20 deg, and coming out at exactly 40 deg every time. Is this intended? If so, could it be used as an exploit for people that want to have hot water for some reason? As soon as I can set it up, im going to test if water greater than 40 deg comes out at 40, if this is the case i am sure its being turned to a fixed value. Cause I just observed water going in at 30 or above comes out at exactly 40. So it cant be a temp increase value from the process, because of the wide range of values going in. Your base is already hard enough to keep cool, if all water that is going from clean to dirty or dirty to clean seems to be turning to 40 deg, this seems very un balanced. Yes, that's how the game is implemented at the moment. 14 minutes ago, MythN7 said: I have a piping system created so that all water drops into a pit besdie the ice biome so that it can cool off before going anywhere in my base Not a sustainable strategy. You'll warm that biome up eventually and will have to use warm/hot water anyway. The game does not give us reasonable tools to cool water at the moment, but it also does not punish us for using hot water. As long as you use abyssalite pipes and insulate your pool in abyssalite tiles, you can keep using hot water. 17 minutes ago, MythN7 said: could it be used as an exploit It feels exploit-ey but I don't consider it an exploit, that's how the game works at this stage of development. Yes, you can send 95 C water straight from your steam geyser to a scrubber and it will come out at nice warm 40 C. You can send that same 95 C water to your showers, lavatories, electrolyzers, or even plants, and as long as you keep it in abyssalite pipes your dupes and plants will be happy with it. The thing I am more concerned about is how it raises the temp of the air around it moving the stuff around. Also, in hind sight, its prob the reason my farming irrigation is always so messed up and plants being stifflied. Now that I am aware of this, base design can be taken in to account, to drop water in pits before putting it in farm tiles or things that matter. Then use additional power to pump it back out of the pit. Switch to them as soon as possible. Which I would assume over time makes your bathroom hot. I think this is something that needs a hot fix ASAP! No, neither plants/farm tiles nor showers heat up from the water. Seriously. They don't. Non-abyssalite pipes will do that. But once loaded into the farm, there is zero heat transfer. I tested it with magma. Abyssalite is good enough insulator on its own, it's not necessary to build insulated pipes out of it. Abyssalite tiles naturally in the world retain their temperature dont they? if these are 0-5 degrees wouldnt that cool your water regardless of whether the ice biome heats up? Coolthulhu
Abyssalite objects don't have any "special" traits, they just transmit heat at very low rate. You can see them gain or lose fraction of a degree every hundred of cycles or so. Well, it would still be pointless. Cold abyssalite stays cold because it does not absorb your water's heat, so you can just treat it as a "no black body" radiation material. Make sense?
