Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the duplicants are creating CO2 from breathing? If i am correct, why? They are breathing pure oxygen, not CO2

The fundamental nature of animal metabolism is that you convert sugars (which are composed of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen mainly) + O2 and you chemically convert them into then expel H2O and CO2, gaining energy in the process, since H2O and CO2 are more chemically stable than sugar + O2.

In actuality, the dupes don't breathe out nearly ENOUGH carbon dioxide, not the other way around. Even in pure oxygen, any animal should be breathing out roughly 1 mole of CO2 per 1 mole of O2, which would be about 138% by weight as much CO2 as they breathe in O2.

In this game, they only breathe out 2% as much CO2 as they breathe in O2, so it's about 1/69th as much CO2 as would be realistic.

Because that is the byproduct of respiration
or breathing

Breath in oxygen breath out CO2

This is how breathing works in real life...

If it's an issue in your colony you can mitigate the CO2 created by randomizing the starting colony until you get Diver's Lungs and avoid Mouth Breather at all costs.

You should also put the living areas UP, build a big "basement" (like a huge hole below the living area) as CO2 is heavy and will fall down there, letting your dupes breathe pure oxygen way longer.
