ONI running on MacOS

Recommended Posts

hey all!

I was looking forward to this game a long time now. The only problem is, i only have my macbook to play.

I've seen some of you guys already trying to get ONI running on a mac.

Soooo: Has anybody managed to get it running on mac? If so: HOW? Please tell me ;)

PS: I think it would be neat if all mac-players would put their questions, tries, how-to's here..

  • Parallels Desktop – $53.97. This is one of the best app that allow you to run Windows programs on Mac computer. ...
  • VMware Fusion. ...
  • Virtual PC for Mac. ...
  • CrossOver Mac – $12.95. ...
  • Wineskin Winery (free) ...
  • VirtualBox (free & Open source) ...
  • WinOnX. ...
  • Boot Camp.

Standard practice not to have a Linux/Mac build until the main platform (in this case Windows) has been polished and ready for release.

Running with latest Parallels on an 17" 2.5Ghz i7 16GB, macbook pro. (whichever was the last official 17" model).

VM is configured with 512MB display memory, 2 processors and 5G of memory, Windows 10.

It runs a little slow, but playable until the MacOS version comes out. Probably better if I run Windows natively but that is a PITA.

BTW: Dont Starve Mac version runs smooth as silk under this laptop.

I tried to do the same, with parallels, and I have a macbook pro, same model as yours. I've set up parallels with your same settings, windows 10, but unfortunately when I open the game it says that the system requirements are not enough and when I start a new game it just crashes.

Nevermind, the bug was about vc_redist that needed to be installed manually. When I've done the thing suggested in the pinned thread in the forum, it started working again!

I got that initially with 256MB of display mem. Its still slow and when you click a button (to change priority for instance) you have to wait until the icon/display changes to the new setting before you can use the new settings. I am too impatient to wait...

But at least I get to play without getting new hardware.
