First time Deerclops came?

Heh.

Me being the spoiler I am, I'd looked up lots of videos and guides about how to deal with Deerclops, despite the fact that I'd never survived to the point of winter. They all had different opinions on what to do about him; one guide said to tank him with a marble suit and football helmet, another said to use the kiting tactic. Either way, I wasn't prepared for him.

 

It was in DST, so he had twice as much HP as usual. The two people I was playing him stupidly decided to tank him, and they both died in the process. I knew the world would reset if I died, so I hit him to aggro him and ran to my two spider farms (I was playing as Webber.)

Deerclops attacked me, I took some damage but so did the nearest spider den. It was a tier 2, so about three spider warriors jumped out and began attacking Deerclops, along with two regular spiders. They all died and Deerclops destroyed the den..

I was going pretty insane, because of Webber's low max sanity and Deerclops' massive insanity aura, so I tried legging it over to the beefalo. Deerclops lost interest and wandered away. I was starting to freeze, and we had been taken by surprise at night, and I hadn't had time to make myself a logsuit (couldn't find my old one) or a heat stone. I headed back to my base, where one of the people I was playing with had found a touch stone and revived themselves. We began rebuilding our base; Deerclops had destroyed all of our chests, two crock pots, our farms and two drying racks, so there was a large amount of damage to repair. Somehow, he left the ice box intact.

Hm, the first time... I heard him moan, and he came just seconds after. It was a quite disappointing one, in hindsight, but I got better every time.

This is beautiful.

My deerclops encounter was pretty meh, because the damn thing went for beefalos. Yours makes for a much better story.

Great story!    You had me in the moment, and when one is a player the game it is all too real.

I don't know why but I've had 3 deerclops attacks on base, the only personal effect destroyed was a bird cage, the rest was wall damage on my safe room.

Oh wow, glad you didn't suffer massive damage! (i should probably start making walls in my base hehe)

My first winter ever, Deerclops didn't actually spawn. I assumed he was a rare mob and wasn't an issue..

It might even be lucky that I got caught in the swamp and died 5 days before winter started lmao

Ahh yes...

The first time I met the Doe of Destruction was in, surprisingly, adventure mode. I did know about the bugger, though he didn't know that he was, So. Frickin'. Large. I might have screamed a little in pure terror when it suddenly appeared on screen. Of course I fled for my life, but all of the sudden, the stomping stopped. I backtracked a little, not sure what I was thinking and found it there, on the ground, sleeping. I ran off as quickly as I could. Never saw it again. 

I still wonder how it could've fallen asleep. I didn't have the panflute, and most definetly not sleep darts. Nor does it actually matter, since that world was lost years ago.
